Obituaries Carroll Saunders Carroll M. Saunders of Hot Springs formerly of Midway passed away Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005,.in Hot Springs. He was born Nov. 3, 1922, in Midway, Ark, to the late Roy Rufus Saunders and the late Lydia Elvira McMullen Saunders. He was a licensed Real Estate Agent and a former teacher for the Malvern Public Schools where he taught Science and Special Education. He was also a former Coach. He was an active member of the Red Oak Missionary Baptist Church and a Sunday School teacher. He was a veteran of the United States Army and Served his country in World War II. He was an Outdoorsman, he loved to work in his garden and fishing. He was known by many as a Master Storyteller and has been labeled by some as the Legend of Diamondhead. He Was a great friend to many and a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He will long be remembered for his many kindnesses to all. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. ‘He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Myrtle Evanell “Nell” Rominger Saunders of Hot Springs; one son, Leston Saunders of Hot Springs; two daughters, Diane Siegel and her husband, Michael, of Apex, N. C. and Donna Coburn of Hot Springs; one brother, Robert Saunders and his wife, Margaret, of Midway; four grandchildren, Danny Coburn, Jennifer Siegel, Amber Siegel and Jeremiah Saunders. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, James Saunder and Mabry Saunders; and a sister, Maurice Saunders. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, at Red Oak Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Herbert Watts officiating. Interment will be in Neighbors Cemetery of Midway. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Atkinson Funeral Home of Malvern. -MALVERN DAILY RECORD, Friday, January 14, 2008
