CATHERINE RUTHERFORD Mrs. Rutherford (96) died Thursday. Her obit was in yesterday's Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. She taught history for 40 years at MHS. Her funeral is at 3:00 p.m. today in the Toler Chapel of the First United Methodist Church. Ken Gray (12/8/02) Really sorry to hear about Mrs. Rutherford. I really liked her. Mike Drain (12/8/02) Remember...? The twitching of her lips as she paused after speaking? Her intermitant adjustments of her bra in class? The zest for her subject matter? Telling James Obbenosky that he needed to make an "A" on the final exam or he wouldn't be eligible for football the following year? (He scored 105, including a question for extra credit; otherwise an "F"). Still remember the 75 counties in Arkansas? Merriwether Lewis? Ben Franklin? History should be "fixed" and the truths "constant", but through the years, we have learned things new about those unique individuals who helped to found and develop our country. One thing will never change... our love, admiration, and respect for Mrs. Rutherford and her zeal to share it with us. Ken Gray (12/20/02)
