CATHERINE TURNER RUTHERFORD Catherine Turner Rutherford, age 96 of Malvern, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, in Little Rock. She was born in Malvern on March 24, 1906, to the late Charles Warren and Leticia Reamey Turner. Mrs. Rutherford was reared and received her early education in Malvern, graduating Malvern High School in 1925. She received her degree from Henderson-Brown College (now Henderson State University) and began her teaching career. She taught history in the Malvern Public School System for over 4O years. Mrs. Rutherford was the widow of Clarence H. “Mose” Rutherford, who died in 1984. At the time of her death, she was the oldest member of the First United Methodist Church, which she joined in 1915. Mrs. Rutherford was a member of the Wesleyan Sunday School Class. Her survivors include one sister, Nancy Turner Rutherford of Little Rock; several nieces and nephews, including Catherine Leticia Rutherford of Malvern, Nancy Jane Rutherford Capes of Great Britajn, Roselynn Turner of Baton Rouge, John F. Rutherford of Lancaster, Texas, Charles Warren Turner of Los Angeles, and Charles W. “Bud” Turner and his wife Elaine, of Tappan, New York. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Mabel Richardson, and by three brothers, Charles, Sandford, and Lloyd Turner. Her funeral is scheduled for three o’clock Sunday afternoon in the Toler Chapel of First United MethOdist Church with Reverend Roy P. Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Arrangements are by J.A. Funk Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may take the form of contributions to First Methodist Church, or the Malvern/Hot Spring County Library.
