He was my last uncle still living. I will miss him. He is home with his Father whom he loved so dearly. May God bless Aunt Elizabeth. -Ken Gray (7/6/03) Ken, my prayers and thoughts are with you and your family. I don't have any uncles still around. But I feel their presence and guidance in every step I take. My love to your Aunt Elizabeth also. -Judy Keeley (7/6/03) Ed and I send our deepest sympathies! We both thought the world of him. His faith and love of people were only some of the things that were precious about him. -Martha I am saddened to hear of the death of Mr. Gates. I know he had been ill for some time, and his suffering is over, but still it is a sad loss. He was a good example to many of us in our junior high years and beyond. My prayers are with his family. -Conrad Lawson (7/6/03) I am really sorry to hear about the death of Mr. Gates. I regret not going to see him while I was in Malvern the past several weeks. But things got very hectic for me. My elder sister died June 15th in Malvern. We have lost a lot in the past month or so. Mrs. Strauss, Mr Gates, and I just found out about Jack Tarlton. -Mike Drain (7/8/03) Ken, I am so sorry about your loss. I know he was a wonderful man man in your life because he was such a great influence to so many other people who weren't related. You are very fortunate to be related to such a great person. He was my all time favorite in school. I guess because he was so fair to everyone and showed compassion. He was also a great encourager. I know you will miss him. My prayers are with you, your Aunt Elizabeth and all the other family members. Unfortunately, I read about his death too late to be at the funeral, but my thoughts and prayers are with you'll now. -Dianne Edwards Henderson (7/8/03) Mary Elizabeth Gates met her husband, the late Mac Gates, at the Elite Cafe. Mary was a waitress there. She recalls that Mac was driving a bus and stopped in for a bite to eat. Mary accidentally overcharged Mac a dime. She paid Mac back, but kidded him often during their 54 years of marriage that he was too cheap to let her keep the dime as a tip. Mac died this summer. -MALVERN DAILY RECORD (Article about Elite Cafe) (9/26/03)
